Leadership is for EveryOne: Insights on EVS and European Solidarity Corps from the 2nd Networking Event

In the framework of the project Leadership is for EveryOne was organized a networking event in Tirana, featuring a key presentation by Emiliani Cocos, working as project manager for United Societies of Balkans
(U.S.B.). The U.S.B. is a non-profit organization based in Thessaloniki, Greece working in the field of youth, human rights and intercultural dialogue. USB is a very active organisation in the field of voluntarism and especially in European Voluntary Service (EVS) and now European Solidarity Corps. Since 2009 it has hosted 250 volunteers in projects both long and short term and has
sent 150 volunteers abroad. The main tasks of the hosting project are connected with the new media and ESC volunteers run a web radio, e-television and e- magazine (Balkan Beats). Since 2016 it has created a network of 12 different NGOs in the city of Thessaloniki where it coordinates volunteer projects.

During the networking event in Tirana, Emiliani presented a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and possibilities within the European Voluntary Service (EVS) and European Solidarity Corps programs. His presentation was an informative session that guided Albanian young attendees on how to engage with these programs. He highlighted the process for application, the methods to locate contact information for organizations across various European countries, and outlined the benefits that come with participation in such initiatives.

The event was a significant opportunity for young individuals interested in volunteerism to gain insights into European programs fostering solidarity and service. It not only served as an educational platform but also as a conduit for potential future volunteers to start their journey in making a meaningful difference across Europe and beyond.
